Pax Imperatoria is both a squad and an in-game player-made faction within the Elite:Dangerous video game universe. For all intents and purposes, they are one and the same. The faction is an extension of the squad, serving to advance its goals in-game.
Pax Imperatoria the squad is aligned with Pax Imperatoria the minor faction, Empress Arissa Lavigny-Duval the local power, and the Empire superpower. It maintains its controlled systems in an anarchic state as this permits a certain... "flexibility"... in carrying out its mission.
Make no mistake, though; Pax Imperatoria is wholly devoted to the Imperial cause... at least as it defines it.
Pax Imperatoria; the Imperial Peace. Dismissed by some as fanatics and rogues. Others whisper of a covert organization working in the shadows.
Whatever the rumor, one thing is certain: they zealously pursue Imperial hegemony throughout the galaxy...by any means necessary. Economically, militarily, politically; every advantage leveraged to bring systems into the Empire's fold.
Once all humanity is unified beneath the talons of the Imperial Eagle, only then will they know peace.
Members strive to obtain the best ship(s) their time and resources will allow. This extends to fully-engineered, top-of-the-line modules. Pax Imperatoria is focused on expansion. Expansion is achieved through combat. Combat demands a capable ship.
Members do not attack Pax Imperatoria NPCs' or fellow squad mates' ships unless they come under attack by said ships. Even then, an effort should be made to outrun and evade the attacking ship(s) rather than engage in in-fighting. Destroying our faction's NPC ships lowers our in-game faction's influence.
Squad members assist one another through wing missions, multi-crew, collaborative efforts, and sharing information and 3rd-party resources to enhance game play. The stronger the one, the stronger the all.
Members advance the influence of Pax Imperatoria (the in-game faction) in any system in which it is present. Complete missions for the faction; sell in-demand commodities for profit at stations controlled by the faction; and redeem exploration data, combat bonds, and bounties at stations controlled by the faction.
It is not expected this represent the whole of squad members' game play. However, members make the effort to increase the faction's influence any time they pass through a system where Pax Imperatoria is present.
Whenever Pax Imperatoria is engaged in a War or Civil War for control of a station or settlement, squad members fight on the side of Pax Imperatoria in the system's Conflict Zones and accept massacre missions against the enemy faction.
This is a "prime directive" of the squad. It is only through War and Civil War the faction can conquer settlements, stations, and whole systems, expanding our dominion. When the call is put forth to assist in a War or Civil War, members are expected to answer.
Members pledge to Arissa Lavigny-Duval for Power Play. Squad members can pledge to other powers on an as-needed basis to earn power-specific modules. This one exception aside, members remain pledged to Arissa Lavigny-Duval and occasionally help expand her territory through Power Play.
This is a very casual expectation and takes a backseat to Supremacy. The advancement of the faction's efforts in a specific system are given higher priority than expanding Arissa Lavigny-Duval's territory. However, when expanding the Empress' territory will benefit the faction, members are again expected to answer the call.
Duty Begets Unity.
Unity Begets Opportunity.
Opportunity Begets Supremacy.
Supremacy Begets Hegemony.
Hegemony Begets Pax Imperatoria.
Long live the Empress! Long live the Empire!
You do not find Pax Imperatoria; Pax Imperatoria finds you.
Ever vigilant, Pax Imperatoria scours the galaxy in search of new pilots of merit. That next random wing invite, the multi-crew session with strangers? It could very well be agents of Pax assessing your abilities.
Without even being aware of it, you will be recruited, you will be tested before being invited into the fold.
